Remembering

As 2013 packs up her bag and gets ready to make room for the new boarder, the number of bloggers describing their memories with her skyrocket. I'm not really here to tell you how my year went, else you'd end up reading a 120000 word essay. Have I mentioned that I'm not really good with summaries?
Anyway, I just want to write a bit about some of the lessons I learnt this year.

Lesson 1: Never make decisions when you're sleep deprived and desperate. No need to go into details.

Lesson 2: Stop getting yourself into situations that lead you to trouble. I really cannot emphasise this lesson enough. One minute I'm trying to be good, next minute I'm waist deep in trouble. Must be a skill of mine. I'm not sure I can take anymore of it.

Lesson 3: Stop getting other people into trouble. It seems I have a knack for doing that too. Let me just take this opportunity to apologise to anyone I've gotten into trouble this year. Actually, there's one person I really should be apologising to. I'm sorry Teddy.

Lesson 4: Love yourself. I sometimes deal with serious insecurity issues. On good days, someone can say the meanest thing to me and it just bounces off. On bad days, the tiniest bit of criticism turns me into a waterfall. My mum once told me, "To love someone, you must first learn to love yourself". So I'm learning how to love me. I'm taking it hana hana, but I'm getting there. Btw, "hana hana" means step by step in Korean. Random tidbit :P

Lesson 5: First consult mother before giving your sister an awesome haircut. Yeah, I'm a budding hairstylist apparently. Watch out Luigi, I'm coming for your barbershop!

Lesson 6: Take the words of Matthew 6:33 and Proverbs 27:11 to heart.

Sooooooooo, I've always had a crush on you. Should I thank the fates for putting us on the same table, on the first day that I ventured into the boarding house? Random thought 6... more like impulsive action.

Okay, soooooo you know how (I know you don't know, but this is not the time to argue semantics), we're supposed to grab life by the girdle (Or is it the loins), live for the moment, YOLO and all that nonsense, well I decided to apply it in what I must class as my most impulsive action ever. How did this happen you ask? I was casually scrolling down my Facebook timeline when I noticed a post from one of my course mates innocently promoting the 'Vegan pledge'. Now being the busy body that I am, I decided to click on the link and see what it was all about. Basically, the vegan society is holding a campaign allowing meat eaters to enter a pledge that requires them to abstain from meat and dairy products. The pledge has a duration of 1 week (Bronze), 2 weeks (Silver) and 1 month (Gold). You are assigned a mentor to help you adapt to the lifestyle change that comes with being a vegan. I keep on Falling

In the still of the night, while the humans slept and the owls ran amok, I stayed up to read a book. With mounting suspense, I swam through page after page, hoping that within its depth I would glean the answer to Neesha's mystery. With astonishing skill, Sharon Dogar wove a web so tight, I abandoned sleep on the night I needed it the most. My mum advised me to go to sleep at 7pm, so I could get up at 4am to prepare for the journey to Nottingham.  Unfortunately, I made the mistake of picking up the book instead of going to bed. So strong was Neesha's hold on me, that I trudged on till 1:50 am. Never have I been so enthralled by a book. I have about 2 hours before I need to get set to travel.  However, I tell you this my friend, it was well worth the sacrifice.
